Bibi van der Velden reimagines her signature alligator as a striking necklace, crafted as an alligator’s form that drapes around the neck. In 18k yellow gold, this entirely articulated alligator is crafted with an exaggerated, elongated tail, which becomes the length of the necklace. The alligator’s form is ingeniously worked into the necklace’s mechanism. The alligator sits at the neckline, and its jaws snap shut on the end of its tail, to close the necklace. The jaws open via a catch at the creature’s head. This gleaming alligator has green tsavorites for eyes, with every element of its precious body richly detailed, from its tiny, moveable legs to its razor-sharp teeth.
