Van Cleef & Arpels
Vibrant colour, evocative designs, and intricate stone settings all combine in Van Cleef & Arpels’ vintage jewellery. Established in Paris in 1906, this storied house is renowned for jewellery that reflects the spirit of the times. In the 20’s Van Cleef & Arpels was inspired by the bold, clean lines of the Art Deco period, and even the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb, seen in its ornate Egyptian-influenced pieces

The story behind the brand
The 30’s saw the debut of Van Cleef & Arpels’ elegant and effortless Ludo bracelet, with its fluid, honeycomb-like construction. And figurative designs have been hallmark of the house since the 40’s, from twirling ballerinas to intricate animal designs, with the latter inspired by the Arpels brothers’ travels around Asia in the 60’s. Alongside its innovation in design, the house is also famed for its Mystery Set technique, which sets precious stones seamlessly, so that the metal that holds them is invisible.
